President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev led an online meeting on the supply of regions with renewable energy sources and the development of the energy supply system. He noted that the Green Energy certification for hydropower plants would be introduced in the country in October this year, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that starting from July 1, hydropower plants can receive green certificates confirming that they produce renewable energy. The Resolution on the launch of the Green Energy Programme has been signed, and the system will start working in October this year.

With the aim to support «clean» energy in the country, the credit terms for the organisations that have installed solar panels on their buildings will be eased. These companies will get 4% back for their credit.

Uzbekistan is expected to experience the electricity shortage of 3.4 billion kilowatt-hour in 2023.
