President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon congratulated citizens of the country on the 78th anniversary of the Victory over fascism. He noted the tremendous contribution of the participants in the battles to ensuring peace and the well-being of their homeland, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported to CentralAsia.news.
Rahmon stressed that friendship among states and peoples is of great importance in today’s turbulent realities, when the threats of terrorism, extremism and other dangerous phenomena are facing the world. He noted that Tajikistan always stands for the peaceful settlement of conflicts and disputes.
The President reminded that about 300,000 citizens of the Republic were mobilized to the front during World War II, and one-third of them did not return home. The Tajik leader emphasised that 150,000 citizens died in Tajikistan during the civil war in the 1990s.
Emomali Rahmon emphasised that citizens should study the experience of their fathers and pass this knowledge on to the younger generation, as well as explain the value of peace and cohesion to young people.
