CIS Secretary General highly evaluates referendum in Uzbekistan

On May 1, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev, who is on a visit in Tashkent, heading the CIS Observer Mission to verify the referendum. The interlocutors expressed belief that the results of the referendum would be another significant stage in building New Uzbekistan and promoting democratic reforms in the country, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

The President expressed sincere gratitude to Lebedev and the members of the CIS Observer Mission for their active work in all the regions of the Republic, as well as their high evaluation of the preparatory work and results of the referendum.

The important role of the CIS platform in expanding mutually beneficial partnerships, in particular in the trade, economic, industrial and transport sectors was emphasised. The interlocutors positively evaluated the dynamics of investment growth in the CIS and the fruitful results of the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers, which was held in Samarkand in March this year.

The interlocutors focused on the prospects for bolstering humanitarian exchanges.
