Tajikistan set to increase proportion of women in government to one third

In accordance with the National Development Strategy until 2030, Tajikistan intends to increase the proportion of women in government to 30 percent of the total number of civil servants. Currently, 4,500 out of more than 18,500 civil servants in the country are women, Sputnik Tajikistan reports.

The Civil Service Agency of Tajikistan headed by Juma Davlatzoda clarified that it is planned to increase the proportion of women in management to 25 percent in accordance with the document. The Agency noted that Tajikistan develops and adopts strategies, concepts and programme to achieve gender equality and takes measures to attract women to public service and promote them to management positions.

Achieving gender equality remains a crucial aspect of policy management in Tajikistan. However, at the beginning of 2023, the proportion of female government officials in the country is still insufficient.
