Turkmenistan and Japan to expand exchange of students and scientists

The head of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiyev met with the Director General of the Japan Institute of International Relations, Professor Tomiko Ichikawa. They discussed issues of expanding the exchange of students and scientists between universities. It was reported to CentralAsia.news by the press office of the Turkmen educational institution.

The rectors considered the possibility of building up academic partnerships and the interaction of experts, holding joint online lectures, and publishing the results of scientific work. The meeting participants also noted the importance of establishing cooperation in the exchange on youth policy issues.

It was emphasized that in Turkmenistan youth is a priority of the national-state interests. The authorities of the country take measures to implement the strategy of international youth cooperation.

Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiyev also met with the head of the Department for Central, East Asia and the Caucasus of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Hirosawa Masayuki. They discussed the possibility of assistance from the agency in equipping the training studio of the Institute of International Relations of Turkmenistan, expanding partnerships in the IT field, and increasing student exchange.
