Immunization coverage in Turkmenistan exceeds 95%

On the occasion of the European Immunization Week, the representative of the World Health Organization in Turkmenistan Yegor Zaitsev spoke about the progress of local specialists in the corresponding direction. He stated that the national immunization coverage amounted to more than 95%. It was reported to CentralAsia.news by the WHO press office.

The representative of the World Health Organization noted the incorporation of HPV vaccines into the immunization schedule of the country in 2016. Three years later, pneumococcal and rotavirus vaccines were introduced in Turkmenistan. 

Yegor Zaitsev drew attention to the fact that within the framework of WHO cooperation with the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, the agencies of the United Nations and the European Union, the effectiveness of immunization in the state has increased.

The European Immunization Week started in the country by the WHO country office, the UN and the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan. As part of this event, a campaign to raise awareness among citizens about the importance of getting vaccinated is conducted.
