On March 22, Tajik leader Emomali Rahmon held a meeting with King of the Netherlands Willem-Alexander in New York. The interlocutors discussed, among important issues, the prospects for promoting cooperation, the approaches of the two countries to addressing the challenges posed by climate changes and melting glaciers and responding to natural disasters, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported to CentralAsia.news.
A constructive exchange of views on the outcomes of bilateral interaction over 30 years of diplomatic relations in the field of politics, inter-parliamentary relations, the economic sectors, including the industrial, high-tech, agro-industrial, investment and financial sectors, trade, education, tourism and culture took place.
The interlocutors identified transport, green energy, natural resources processing and the establishment of direct routes and of a Joint Intergovernmental Commission on economic, trade, scientific and technical cooperation among priority areas for mutually beneficial partnerships.
Following the talks, President Emomali Rahmon invited the King of the Netherlands to pay an official visit to Tajikistan at any convenient time. Tajikistan and the Netherlands signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.
