On March 6, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the members of the Legislative Chamber and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and the heads of the Supreme Court. The participants held consultations on the comments on amendments and additions to the Basic Law proposed by citizens of the country, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.
The parliamentarians thoroughly considered over 200,000 proposals submitted by citizens of the country. All the proposals received full consideration, taking into account international practices and involving specialists and experts from various industries.
Following the consideration, the Government prepared the final version of the draft Constitutional Law on Amendments and Additions to the Constitution of Uzbekistan.
Since the draft law envisages major changes in the social, economic and political spheres and public administration, parliamentarians hold consultations with the subjects of legislative initiative set forth in Article 83 of the Constitution of Uzbekistan before putting the draft law to a referendum. The Constitutional Court will review the draft law and provide its opinion.
