Tokayev and Mirziyoyev identify priority areas of cooperation

On March 3, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev held an informal meeting with his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Shymkent. The interlocutors reviewed the current state and prospects for promoting Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan mutually beneficial relations, the press office of Akorda reported to CentralAsia.news.

The interlocutors reviewed the progress of the implementation of the agreements reached during the state visit of the Kazakh leader to Tashkent in December last year.

The main emphasis was placed on the expansion of trade and economic cooperation. In particular, the prospects for boosting bilateral trade, attracting additional foreign investment and stepping up cooperation in the industrial, energy, agricultural, transport and logistics sectors were discussed.

The leaders of the two countries commented on the reports of the Vice Prime Ministers and the Co-Chairs of the working groups on the implementation of interstate agreements and decisions.

Tokayev and Mirziyoyev held talks in a traditionally open, warm and friendly atmosphere.
