Following the visit of the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the capital of the United Arab Emirates, a joint declaration of states was adopted. According to the document, Arab companies will take an active part in the extraction of Turkmen gas. It was reported by the state news agency «Turkmenistan today».
UAE companies will take part in the development of the next stages of the supergiant gas field «Galkynysh» in the southeastern part of Turkmenistan. The document underlines that the countries noted the importance of exporting Turkmen gas to world markets through investments.
The «Turkmengas» State Concern and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the energy sector. They will consider promising energy projects, develop gas deposits, conduct marketing of final hydrocarbon products and develop the gas transportation infrastructure.
As part of the visit to Abu Dhabi, Berdimuhamedov met with President of UAE Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. In addition to the above topics, they discussed interstate relations in multimodal transportation between the Caspian and the Middle East regions, renewable energy and ensuring energy security in Central and South Asia.
The Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, on behalf of the head of the Central Asian state Serdar Berdimuhamedov, invited the leader of the United Arab Emirates to pay an official visit to Ashgabat.
