Uzbekistan and Belarus to increase bilateral trade to $1 billion

Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov met with Ambassador of Belarus to Uzbekistan Leonid Marinich. The interlocutors discussed the current state and prospects for deepening bilateral cooperation in the trade, economic, investment and industrial sectors, the press office of the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade reported to CentralAsia.news.

The interlocutors noted with satisfaction the positive dynamics of the development of trade and economic relations. In 2023, bilateral commodity turnover rose by 71% and exceeded $530 million. Uzbekistan doubled its exports to Belarus. In this context, the interlocutors expressed readiness to increase bilateral trade up to $1 billion in the coming years.

They discussed the prospects for promoting investment cooperation and expanding industrial cooperation. It was noted that 181 enterprises with the share of Belarusian capital, including 77 joint ventures and 104 enterprises with foreign investment, operate in Uzbekistan. Over a hundred companies with Uzbek investment operate in Belarus. The interlocutors expressed readiness to support the implementation of new joint industrial cooperation projects.

Kudratov and Marynich exchanged views on the implementation of joint projects in the textile, leather, footwear, electrical engineering, furniture and building materials industries.
