More than 300 Russian books donated to National Library of Kazakhstan

On January 25, the solemn ceremony of donating the Russian-language books to the National Library of Kazakhstan took place. 326 new publications, the list of which was compiled by the project participants in advance, replenished the library collection, Sputnik reports.

Russia has been donating books to the main library of Kazakhstan for 17 years in a row. Books are donated each year on January 25, when Russia celebrates Student’s Day. This tradition helps create a large book corner of Russian-language publications at the library in Almaty. The Consul General of the Russian Federation in Kazakhstan noted that this collection is larger than that of all other countries represented in the fund.

Consul General of Russia in Alma-Ata Yevgeny Bobrov said the managers of the National Library have been carefully storing all the books donated by the Russian Federation all these years.

Director of the National Library Bakytzhamal Ospanova added that the library compiles the lists of Russian-language books in response to the interest expressed by readers. The library hosts special events throughout the year to mark the significant dates and birth anniversaries of Russian writers.
