New vehicles replenish ambulance fleet of Uzbekistan

The Republican Emergency Medical Centre of Uzbekistan has received 110 new Volkswagen Caddy ambulances, Gazeta.uz reports, referring to information from the press office of the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan.

The ambulances stuffed with all necessary equipment and devices to provide urgent care and transport patients to hospitals were distributed among the regions of the country, depending on the need for medical transport. The largest number of vehicles (10 vehicles) were supplied to the ambulance stations in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Andijan and Bukhara, Kashkadarya, Namangan and Fergana Regions. The health institutions in Jizzakh and Surkhandarya Regions received 9 vehicles each. 8 vehicles were supplied to Navoi, Syrdarya, Tashkent and Khorezm Regions.

In Uzbekistan, work continues on modernising the material and technical base of ambulance services. Currently, the ambulance fleet of the country has 2,938 vehicles, more than 20 percent of which need to be replaced. These are mainly the ambulances made by Hyundai, Volkswagen, Nissan, Toyota, Ford, UAZ and Isuzu.

In accordance with the order of the President of Uzbekistan, out of service ambulances will be replaced by 2024.
