First Deputy Prosecutor General of Kyrgyzstan sacked for violations

On January 17, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov sacked First Deputy Prosecutor General Abay Moldokmatov for improper performance of official duties. Ulugbek Sultanov was appointed as new First Deputy Prosecutor General. He worked as head of one of the departments of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reports.

The special working group, set up on the President’s instructions to evaluate the performance of law enforcement and supervisory authorities after the high-profile detention of the policemen in Suzak, had found the violations.

The Administration of the President of Kyrgyzstan proposed sacking a number of employees of the prosecutor’s office in Jalal-Abad Region for the violations and inadequate control and supervision of criminal investigations.

As was reported, the members of the organized criminal group, who are suspected of taking part in a robbery, and the policemen, who had sheltered them, were detained at the end of 2022. The head of the criminal investigation department of the Suzak district division of internal affairs and two subordinates were detained on charges that they had abused their power. A number of senior officials of the Main Department of Internal Affairs were removed from office, fired and received disciplinary action verdicts.
