One of the regions of Uzbekistan, the Republic of Karakalpakstan was listed among the world’s rarest tourist destinations to visit, the press office of the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan reported.
The British travel publisher Bradt Guides has published this information on its pages. The experts report that such attractions as the largest music festival in Central Asia in the city of Muynak and the current avant-garde exhibition «Louvre in the Desert» make Karakalpakstan worth visiting as one of the most interesting and little-studied regions of the world.
The British experts recommend visiting the open-air complex of authentic Karakalpak yurts. Karakalpakstan is also famous for being called the «Motherland of the Aral Sea».
Last year, the President of Uzbekistan signed the Resolution on the additional measures to diversify domestic tourism services, setting the tasks to create tourist maps to promote the tourism potential of the Republic. An international airport in Muynak was built to attract tourists, and high-speed trains are planned to be launched.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, the Karakalpak Jogarky Kenes is developing a travel guidebook on the routes in Karakalpakstan.
