The diplomatic representative of Turkmenistan in Astrakhan Nury Golliyev met with the head of the Ministry of Foreign Relations of the Astrakhan region Vladimir Golovkov. They discussed the successes of cooperation in the last year, and outlined plans for this year. It was reported to CentralAsia.news by the press office of the Astrakhan department.
The officials noted that in 2022 Turkmenistan and the Astrakhan region strengthened trade, economic and humanitarian partnership. According to them, in general, the specified period of time was fruitful for the sides. Civil servants summed up relevant activities.
In April last year, the governor of the federal subject of the Russian Federation Igor Babushkin visited Ashgabat. During the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov he proposed to organize tours to the «Avaza» tourist zone and open regular flights between Astrakhan and Turkmenbashi.
In June, an agreement on cooperation between the Astrakhan region of Russia and the Balkan region of Turkmenistan was signed. The administrative centers of the regions signed a twinning agreement. In August, a delegation of Turkmenistan visited Astrakhan on a working trip. During their visit, negotiations on the development of logistics were held.
Golliyev and Golovkov noted that in 2023, as part of a mutually beneficial partnership, important joint projects will be implemented. They paid attention to the prospects of launching the North-South transport corridor, establishing shipping communications and opening a logistics center of Turkmenistan in the Astrakhan region.
