Prospects for developing cotton farming discussed in Tashkent

A meeting on the prospects for developing one of the key sectors of the Uzbek economy — the cotton industry took place at the Council for Cotton Growing under the President of Uzbekistan, the press office of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan reported.

Representatives of the cotton research institutes, agricultural scientists and heads of cluster farms and private seed enterprises attended the meeting, which was held in a hybrid format (online and offline). Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan and Chairman of the Council Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov chaired the meeting.

The participants discussed the work plans of the Council for Cotton Growing under the President of Uzbekistan for 2023. The issues under discussion included the sowing of cotton varieties in the regions and the preparation of facilities for seed harvesting.

The participants adopted the decision to conduct regional seminars on upcoming agrotechnical campaigns and cotton science and a seminar for representatives of industry clusters and farms scheduled to take place in January-February.

Ibrohim Abdurakhmonov gave specific instructions for the upcoming cotton sowing campaign (seed certification, winter agrotechnical activities, cleaning of water canals, services to tenants).
