Constructive business initiatives to be incorporated to develop Kazakhstan’s metals and mining sector

On January 6, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov held the fifth meeting of the Council of Domestic Entrepreneurs. It focused on the modernization of the metals and mining sector, the press office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported to CentralAsia.news.

Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development Marat Karabayev reported that the Republic is the leader in terms of mineral reserves, which necessitates improving the competitiveness of the metals and mining sector. It is planned to replenish the mineral resource base, simplify and digitalize business activities of subsoil users on a single resource and transform metal processing into finished production.

Alikhan Smailov assured that the approaches of the Government and the constructive ideas of entrepreneurs contributing to the growth of the metals and mining sector will be incorporated in the industry five-year programmes.

The entrepreneurs and experts shared their views on the progressive improvement of the geological institute, subsoil use, investment attractiveness, taxation and environmental safety.

After listening to the entrepreneurs, the Prime Minister said the Government exempted the industrial projects which have been launched in 2023 from mining taxes for 5 years with the aim of stirring investment interest in the metals and mining sector.
