President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov will pay an official visit to the People’s Republic of China on January 5. He will be there for two days. As part of the trip, the leader of the Central Asian country will meet with his colleague from China. It was reported to CentralAsia.news by the press office of the Chinese MFA.
Berdimuhamedov will travel to China at the invitation of President Xi Jinping. As part of the state visit, it is planned to sign a package of documents on partnership between Ashgabat and Beijing.
This is Serdar Berdimuhamedov’s first visit to China since he was elected President of Turkmenistan in March last year. The last time he met with the head of the Celestial Empire was in Samarkand, Uzbekistan at the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in September last year.
As of January-November last year, the People’s Republic of China increased gas imports from Turkmenistan by more than 53 percent compared to 2021. The value of the respective purchases was about 9.28 billion US dollars.
