Tashkent to host First Forum of Regions of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan

On December 24, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev met with Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev during his working trip to Baku. The interlocutors discussed the current state and prospects for expanding bilateral trade relations, the press office of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

The interlocutors expressed mutual readiness to increase bilateral trade up to $1 billion over the next 5 years and agreed on specific practical measures in this regard.

The interlocutors mentioned the strengthening of direct contacts between the regions of the two states among the priority vectors of cooperation. In this context, they agreed to hold a regular meeting of the Business Council and the First Forum of Regions of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan with a road show of promising investment projects in Tashkent early next year.

They reviewed practical steps to promote industrial cooperation, in particular the creation of joint sericulture and textile clusters and the implementation of joint investment projects in the mechanical engineering, chemical, petrochemical, jewellery and energy industries and agriculture, among other areas.
