Another batch of humanitarian aid from Uzbekistan arrives in Afghanistan

On December 22, another batch of humanitarian aid to the Afghan people arrived in the city of Hairatan, Afghanistan, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reported.

A delegation of representatives of the public and local authorities, headed by Governor of Balkh Province Muhammad Daud Muzamil, met the humanitarian convoy. The government officials of Uzbekistan — Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev and Surkhandarya Region Khokim Tura Bobolov accompanied humanitarian aid.

A total weight of humanitarian aid including flour, wheat, rice, oil, canned food, clothes and shoes exceeds 170 tonnes. The Governor of Balkh Province expressed deep gratitude to the people of Uzbekistan and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for assistance, support and solidarity with Afghanistan in a difficult period.

The members of the Uzbek delegation said Uzbekistan is ready to continue providing humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan and intensify trade and economic cooperation between business circles of Surkhandarya Region and Balkh Province.

As was reported, the Joint Working Group on Border Issues at the level of the heads of Surkhandarya Region and Balkh Province will resume its work and hold the next meeting in Termez.
