Meeting on 2023 macroeconomic forecasts for Uzbekistan

On December 19, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on the macroeconomic forecasts for 2023, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

According to experts, the Uzbek economy is projected to grow at least 5.5 percent, and the export is expected to increase by 13 percent and reach $19 billion next year.

In 2023, GDP growth is forecast at 5.3 percent. One of the priority tasks set for the next year is to reduce inflation.

The participants discussed the steps to support the economic and social sectors and private businesses and improve the living conditions of the people.

Next year, the growth of industry is forecast at 5.1 percent, agriculture — at 3.5 percent and services — at 14.1 percent. The state intends to allocate about 10 trillion soums to develop private entrepreneurship and 12 trillion soums to increase industrial production.

It is planned to attract long-term resources of up to $500 million from international financial organisations to boost the economic growth. The tasks were set to increase foreign investment to $10 billion and launch new projects worth $8 billion.

Next year, the state intends to increase the regional exports by 60 percent, which is projected to be worth up to $10 billion.
