Education

At the Turkmen Agricultural University, one of the oldest higher educational institutions in the country, great attention is paid to preparing highly qualified specialists. The focus is made on educational programs related to the environment. For several years now, some students have been learning «Agroecology».

Environmental Protection

The most important priorities of the state policy of Turkmenistan are ensuring living conditions for the population in a clean environment, efficient use of natural resources, and development of reliable regional and international partnerships in this area. The initiatives of Turkmenistan, put forward from the high rostrums of the United Nations General Assembly and major international forums, are aimed at protecting the environment in the interests of all mankind.

At present, a number of measures to combat the retreat, as well as the evaporation of most of the waters of the Aral Sea are being taken in the country. In accordance with the National Forest Program and in order to improve the ecological state of the Turkmen Aral Sea region, reduce the impact of salt dust and strong winds, tree planting continues. Forest plantations create favorable conditions for flora and fauna, and improve the condition of soils and pastures.

Environmental protection, rational nature management, and environmental safety are becoming more and more urgent issues of our time. Their effective solution is a priority for all countries of the world, including Turkmenistan. Supporting the efforts of the international community to reduce harmful emissions, Turkmenistan is widely introducing advanced, environmentally friendly and resource-saving technologies at light and heavy industries, the oil and gas sector, the electric power and chemical industries of the national economy. These aspects are among the key areas for the development of Turkmen science, technology and education.
