Japan further invests in projects in Uzbekistan

On December 15, the bilateral talks with a Japanese delegation consisting of JBIC Managing Executive Officer Uchida, Executive Officer at Kyuden International Yusu and Chief Operations Officer at Sojitz Corporation Nishikawa took place in the building of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan, the press office of the Ministry reported to CentralAsia.news. 

The interlocutors focused on speeding up the implementation of the project of a 1,600MW combined-cycle power plant in Syrdarya Region by the consortium of EDF, Nebras Power, Sojitz Corporation and Kyuden International. The Japanese side expressed gratitude for the assistance in promoting the project and informed that construction and installation works would start in February next year.

The JBIC manager assured that the Bank was ready to allocate funds, noting that this is the first non-sovereign project in Uzbekistan.

The participants considered the possibilities of implementing joint PPP projects with Sojitz Corporation and Kyuden International in the renewable energy, hydrogen energy, chemical and health sectors.
