Tajikistan highly evaluates current level of cooperation with UNESCO

On December 8, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay on the sidelines of the UN Water Summit during his state visit to Paris. The interlocutors discussed the current situation and prospects of bilateral cooperation, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

The Minister highly evaluated the current state and content of multifaceted relations with UNESCO during the period of Azoulay’s leadership in the organisation.

The interlocutors emphasised that two joint nominations of Tajikistan “Sericulture and traditional production of silk for weaving” and “Telling tradition of Nasreddin Hodja” were inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity at the 17th session of the 17th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, which is a great achievement towards safeguarding and promoting the heritage of ancestors, as well as presenting national art, rich and ancient culture of the people of Tajikistan on the international platform.
