Kyrgyzstan to spend 1% of government budgets on science and innovation

The authorities of Kyrgyzstan intend to provide adequate financial support for science. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov made this statement at a meeting of the Council for Science, Innovation and New Technologies, the press office of the Cabinet of Ministers reported to CentralAsia.news.

In 2023, 1% of the budgets of ministries, departments and government agencies will be spend on the development of the science sector. Japarov stressed that he expects the Academy of Sciences and rectors of higher educational institutions to contribute to encouraging start-ups.

The emphasis was placed on the importance of promoting the work of student scientists. They will receive $500 for each successful project. Particular attention was paid to using water to produce hydrogen. The Prime Minister also instructed the Academy to launch the production of mineral organic fertilizers.

The Cabinet of Ministers will approve the state order in the areas of scientific research, the Prime Minister said. Medical science projects will focus on the treatment of cardiovascular and oncological diseases.
