Kazakhstan to produce anticancer drugs

On December 1, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zomart Tokayev met with Chairman of the Board of Directors of Roche Holding AG Christoph Franz. A lively discussion of the prospects of professional partnerships and the development of a number of areas in the national health system took place during the meeting, the press office of Akorda reported.

The Swiss specialist informed the President about the upcoming stages of the practical implementation of the project to localize the production of anticancer drugs. He noted that the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Swiss holding had signed the relevant agreement.

Christoph Franz briefed the President on the joint work with the Kazakh Research Institute of Oncology and Radiology on the development of modern approaches to diagnosing oncological diseases. In 2023, it is planned to set up a laboratory diagnostic training centre under the School of Medicine at Nazarbayev University with the support of Roche Holding AG to improve professional skills of Kazakh health specialists, the guest added.

The interlocutors paid special attention to the improvement of medical science in Kazakhstan.
