Prospects for agricultural development in Tashkent Region discussed

On December 1, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting in Tashkent to discuss the proposals for the development of agriculture in Tashkent Region, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

Tashkent Region has substantial water reserves and fertile soil, which makes it suitable for growing horticultural crops and grapes. In September this year, the President signed the Resolution On additional measures to increase the income of the population by supporting the creation of dekhkan farms, which set a number of tasks to develop the agro-industrial sector in the region and allocate farm plots to the local population for agriculture.

The participants reported on the implementation of the Resolution of the President. They reported that an area of 62 hectares was used to plant pasture plants, grow oilseeds, legumes and drought-tolerant fodder crops and raise livestock.

It is planned to grow potatoes, grapes, vegetables and fruits on the territory of Tashkent Region. The participants presented the crop production plans in figures for each of the districts of the region, noting that these projects would create more than 24,000 new jobs.
