President of Uzbekistan on official visit to France

On November 21 and 22, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the heads of a number of government agencies and major French companies during his official visit to the French Republic, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reports.

On the first day of the visit, Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with CEO of the French Development Agency (AFD) Remy Rioux. The President of Uzbekistan and the Chief Executive Officer of AFD exchanged views on the prospects for public-private cooperation in education, healthcare, transport and infrastructure, the green economy, energy, agriculture, as well as entrepreneurship support. Following the meeting, the Strategic Cooperation Programme until 2025 worth more than 1 billion euros was signed.

On the same day, the President of Uzbekistan discussed key aspects of trade, economic and investment partnerships with the top managers of the largest French companies and banks, including Airbus, Orano, Suez, Alstom, Total Eren, EDF, Schneider Electric and Natixis, among others.

On November 22, the Uzbek leader met with President of the French National Assembly Yaël Braun-Pivet at the Palais Bourbon. The interlocutors discussed aspects of inter-parliamentary partnership in the context of further reforms aimed at democratization of the social and political life of Uzbekistan.

A solemn welcoming ceremony of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took place at the Hotel National des Invalides. Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade, Economic Attractiveness and French Nationals Abroad Oliver Becht welcomed the Uzbek leader. Then the President of Uzbekistan headed to the Elysee Palace, where a meeting of the leaders of Uzbekistan and France is scheduled to take place.
