Special Representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic for Special Assignments Taalatbek Masadykov met with the leaders of the de facto authorities of Afghanistan during his working visit to Kabul. The interlocutors discussed regional security issues, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reports.
“Regional security issues, promotion of bilateral trade and economic relations, cultural contacts, transport corridors and the possibility of providing humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people were discussed,” the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reports.
Taalatbek Masadykov has paid numerous working visits to Afghanistan. In April this year, Masadykov visited Afghanistan to discuss potential threats and risks to national security of Kyrgyzstan.
In August 2021, the Taliban (the organisation is banned in Russia) swept to power, took control of the entire territory of Afghanistan and seized Kabul, the capital and largest city of Afghanistan without a fight. Until that happens, they held talks with the authorities of Afghanistan to form a coalition government.
