The representative of the Malaysian company noted that Petronas is one of the main oil and gas operators on the Turkmen shelf of the Caspian Sea. It has been operating in Turkmenistan since 1996 under the Production Sharing Agreement with the Government of Turkmenistan on hydrocarbon exploration, development and production in offshore Block 1.
The foreign guest also noted that though the contract expires in 6 years, Petronas hopes to operate on a long-term basis in Turkmenistan that offers many business opportunities.
