Tokayev calls for substantive acceleration of cooperation with EU

On October 27, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev put forward the proposals that would encourage cooperation at the meeting of the Central Asian leaders and the President of the European Council, the press office of Akorda reported.

The Kazakh leader emphasised that Central Asia is located at the junction of the Asian and European continents, serving as a link between geopolitical centres and world markets. In this regard, the intention to foster interregional dialogue will further strengthen the foundation between the Central Asian countries and the European Union, the President believes.

The Kazakh leader specified that in a rapidly changing world, Central Asia is facing the threats that emerge against the backdrop of geopolitical tensions. It is therefore crucial to strengthen mutual trust and the spirit of cooperation in the heart of Eurasia in this difficult time. It is bridges but not walls that need to be built between Central Asia and Europe, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev unequivocally stated.

In this context, the President stressed that trade, economic and investment cooperation is one of the most important areas. The Kazakh leader specified that Kazakhstan offers over 100 types of processed goods worth $1.5 billion and is ready to work together to address food security challenges, as well as to develop green energy.
