Tajikistan and EU “synchronise watches” of mutually beneficial cooperation

On October 27, President Emomali Rahmon held bilateral talks with President of the European Council Charles Michel in the capital of Kazakhstan during his official visit to Astana to attend the Central Asia-European Union Summit. The interlocutors discussed a wide range of aspects of mutually beneficial partnerships between Tajikistan and the European Union, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

They noted with satisfaction the positive dynamics of development of bilateral cooperation and positively evaluated the progress of the implementation of the Cooperation Agreement that laid a strong foundation for deeper bilateral partnerships.

An exchange of views on enhancing investment cooperation, supporting joint ventures, providing technical assistance and financial support to priority social and economic areas as well as assisting Tajikistan to mitigate the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic took place.

The interlocutors were unanimous that the parties need to establish partnerships in industry, mining, infrastructure construction, agricultural production, tourism, science, education and health care and address global problems associated with water scarcity and climate change.
