Bishkek calls on CSTO to adopt statement on prevention of cross-border incursions

On October 7, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Nuran Niyazaliev called on the CSTO to amend the statutory documents on prevention of armed clashes. He made this statement at a meeting of deputy foreign ministers of the CSTO Members in Yerevan, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reports.

The Deputy Minister reported on the consequences of the recent tragic events on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border at the meeting.

He called on the parties to launch the CSTO mechanisms as soon as possible to prevent military incursions over border and resolve peacefully all disputes between states in accordance with the Collective Security Treaty and the CSTO Charter. In this context, it was proposed to adopt a joint statement and make amendments to the CSTO statutory documents.

The delegations discussed important documents and exchanged views on urgent security issues.

Earlier, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov and Prime Minister Akylbek Japarov met with CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas to discuss security challenges in the region.
