On September 23, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov had a telephone conversation with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko. The interlocutors discussed priority aspects of bilateral cooperation, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reports.
The leader of Kyrgyzstan informed Lukashenko about the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border.
Following the telephone conversation, the interlocutors agreed to continue fruitful cooperation in all sectors of mutual interest.
As was reported, shelling on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border resumed on September 14. The Kyrgyz authorities said 59 people were died and 140 were injured. The Tajikistan authorities reported on 41 deaths. On September 18, the two countries agreed to form joint border patrols and decided to unblock roads in the conflict zone. On September 19, they signed a peace protocol.
On September 22, Japarov held a government meeting, during which he instructed the relevant authorities to provide assistance to the victims and reconstruct the destroyed infrastructure in Batken Region.
