WHO positively assesses Kazakhstan’s priorities in healthcare

On September 22, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov met with WHO Regional Director for Europe Hans Kluge. The interlocutors discussed the development of the healthcare system and international initiatives of Kazakhstan, the press office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.

The main themes under discussion included the improvement of the quality of health services, documentation and export of the Kazakh QazVac vaccine, as well as preparatory work for of the 73rd Session of the World Health Organization Regional Committee for Europe, which will be held in Astana in 2023.

The Prime Minister emphasised that Kazakhstan fully supports WHO in its work towards improving national healthcare models and highly evaluates its efforts in combating the pandemic.

Alikhan Smailov confirmed that Kazakhstan stands for continued cooperation with the World Health Organization and a fruitful exchange of experiences in all priority deltas. He said the Government of Kazakhstan will continue to gradually increase the salaries of health workers, modernise health infrastructure, particularly in rural areas, train professional doctors and expand the geography of funding research projects.

The guest noted that WHO supports Kazakhstan’s priorities in healthcare, including the expansion of access to modern health services and the creation of a favourable social environment for health workers.
