Uzbekistan and Malaysia strengthen cooperation on customs matters

On September 21, First Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Mukhtarov held talks online with Director-General of the Royal Malaysian Customs Department Haji Zazuli Bin Johan, the Dunyo News Agency reported.

The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Kuala Lumpur organised the talks. They focused on strengthening cooperation between the customs authorities of the two states.

The Malaysian official was informed about ongoing social and economic transformations in Uzbekistan, which contribute to creating a free competitive environment and establishing contacts with new markets.

Haji Zazuli Bin Johan said Uzbekistan is one of the largest partners of Malaysia among the Central Asian states. Malaysian business circles are interested in building up mutually beneficial cooperation with Uzbek entrepreneurs.

The interlocutors agreed to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Royal Malaysian Customs Department and the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan and establish cooperation between the Royal Malaysian Customs Academy and the Customs Institute of Uzbekistan. Mutual visits of specialists from the two countries are to be arranged.
