Parliament of Kyrgyzstan supports 12-year education project

On September 19, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic Nadira Zhusupbekova reported on the current situation in the national preschool and school education systems. The participants in the meeting considered introducing a 12-year education system in the country, the press office of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan reports.

The Deputy Minister stressed that 12-year school education is an international practice and will have a number of positive aspects contributing to the growth and development of schoolchildren.

The Ministry also believes that admission of children to school from the age of 6 will significantly reduce the load on kindergartens, which will allow children to go to kindergarten at an earlier age, for example, from the age of 2, which is impossible now because there are simply not enough preschool places available.

Following the discussion, the participants supported the draft resolution.

A member of Parliament Aibek Matkerimov stressed that special attention should also be paid to teaching such a school subject as basic military training.

It is proposed that a military officer should teach this subject at schools in Batken Region instead of a school teacher.
