New houses to be built for residents of Kostanay Region who lost their homes in wildfires

On September 4, Chairman of the Government of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov held a special meeting to identify the routes of action to respond to large-scale wildfires in Kostanay Region, the press office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.

The Prime Minister instructed the regional and republican authorities to assess the damage caused to citizens and agricultural lands and set the tasks to draft a resolution on the allocation of funds from the Government reserve funds which would be used to compensate for damages and build new houses for people who lost their homes in wildfires.

Other urgent issues were addressed, and specific instructions were given at the meeting. The Prime Minister said these issues are under control of the President.

It was reported that an unplanned fire burnt in the forest areas of the region as a result of the harsh weather conditions and rising temperatures. According to sad statistics, wildfires have burnt 43,000 hectares.

1,841 people were evacuated immediately and provided with all the necessary things. 10 citizens were injured, and one citizen died in a fire. 108 buildings were destroyed by fires. The aircraft rescue and firefighting services of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan are engaged to combat wildfires.
