On August 22, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda met with Chairman of the Tajikistan-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group Jalil Rahimi, the press office of the lower house of the Parliament of Tajikistan reported.
The Iranian official led the delegation of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament of Iran) to Tajikistan. Zokirzoda and Rahimi discussed key aspects of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Dushanbe and Tehran. Zokirzoda stressed that the Government and Parliament of Tajikistan attach great importance to cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Rahimi regarded the visit of the parliamentary delegation of the Islamic Consultative Assembly to Tajikistan as the beginning of a new chapter in inter-parliamentary relations, calling on the legislatures of the two states to build up cooperation through stimulating the Friendship Groups.
On the same day, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sodik Imomi met with the Chairman of the Tajikistan-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group to discuss issues of mutual interest.
