Kyrgyz authorities intend to improve people’s lives through cooperation with banks

On August 23, Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Japarov held a meeting with representatives of Kyrgyzstan’s banking sector and called on them to work closely with the state towards attracting investments from external and internal markets to improve the welfare of Kyrgyz citizens, the press office of the Government of Kyrgyzstan reports.

The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers dwelt on the promising areas of development of the banking sector. For example, the right of commercial banks to sell and buy gold and silver bars and coins is being considered, which will become one of the mechanisms for mitigating currency risks.

The representatives of the banking sector were informed that it is planned to set up a consortium of banks that will mobilise resources to implement projects, for example, the construction of small hydropower plants.

The heads of the banks put forward proposals and recommendations on the development and implementation of measures necessary to improve the quality of customer service and the efficiency of the national economy.
