Tajikistan and Japan discuss counter-terrorism efforts in Dushanbe

On August 1, Minister of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan Ramazon Rakhimzoda met with Ambassador of Japan in Dushanbe Toshihiro Aiki. The parties discussed the prospects for expanding cooperation, in particular in combating crime, the press office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

The interlocutors focused on building up relations in countering transnational organised crime, terrorism and extremism.

Noting that Tokyo is ready to strengthen cooperation with Dushanbe in the areas of interest to the two states, Aiki emphasised the effectiveness of interaction between Tajikistan and Japan in the international arena.

The Land of the Rising Sun highly evaluated the efforts taken by the Central Asian state to combat terrorism, extremism and illicit trafficking in psychotropic substances. Particular attention was paid to the effectiveness of the International Conference on Countering Terrorism and Preventing Violent Extremism, which was held in Dushanbe.
