Kazakhstan and Georgia intend to develop transport transit potential

On July 27, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov presented the position of his country on the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) during the talks with Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili, the press office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.

The interlocutors highlighted need to enhance the competitive functioning of the corridor by removing infrastructure barriers at railway sections and maritime cargo hubs and revise the existing tariffs.

The Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan emphasised that this project is of strategic importance for the two countries. Kazakhstan always supports the proposals aimed at promoting transit and transport opportunities in the region provided the predominance of conditions for ensuring a balance of stakeholders, Alikhan Smailov said.

In this context, the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan invited to develop and adopt the roadmap for 2022-2025 to eliminate bottlenecks on the transport route and fill it with meaningful content.
