On July 26, Kyrgyz leader Sadyr Japarov held talks with OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Kairat Abdrakhmanov. They agreed to expand cooperation in promoting interethnic relations, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reported.
Japarov wished every success to Abdrakhmanov in his new position within the OSCE and informed the interlocutor about the measures taken to maintain interethnic cohesion in Kyrgyzstan.
The President emphasised that particular attention is paid to embedding multilingualism. For example, general educational institutions are implementing multilingual education projects for children who belong to national minorities. The authorities take consistent measures to improve the mechanism for preventing conflicts between representatives of different ethnic groups.
The High Commissioner highly evaluated the work being done by the Republic in this sphere. He also noted the effectiveness of the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, which was held in Issyk-Kul.
