Tajikistan and Russia strengthen cooperation to combat crime

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov in Dushanbe. The interlocutors discussed a wide range of aspects of bilateral cooperation in combating crime, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported.

Particular attention was paid to ensuring security and promoting partnerships on legal matters. The interlocutors highlighted the importance of expanding contacts to protect citizens of Tajikistan and the Russian Federation from any manifestations of crimes at various levels.

The interlocutors considered concerting efforts to combat terrorism, extremism, international crime and cybercrime. The talks focused on responding to internal threats and counteracting the spread of radical ideas, in particular of a religious nature.

Rahmon and Krasnov exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan, labour migration and extradition of persons who have violated the laws and are wanted to Russia and Tajikistan.

The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation met with his counterpart Yusuf Rahmon. They signed a programme of cooperation for the period until 2024.
