Kyrgyzstan hosts Nomads Fashion. Issyk-Kul 2022 Festival

Fashion models wearing the outfits that combined antiquity and modernity walked around at the Nomad Fashion. Issyk-Kul 2022 Festival on the shore of one of the deepest lakes in the world, high in the Tien Shan mountains, the Kabar State News Agency reported.

The event that has been held for the third time has attracted designers and fashion industry experts from around 20 countries to the shimmering Lake Issyk-Kul. They had an opportunity to see the costumes inspired by the thousand-year-old nomadic culture of Kyrgyzstan.

The stilettos worn by some of the models would not be convenient for nomad women, but some of their intricate headdresses, which imitate the horns of cattle, were copied from the traditional nomad costume.

Many outfits featured the swirling voluminous skirts with intricate patterns and bright colours.

Along with haute couture, the fashion show gave visitors an opportunity to see yurts (wooden tents made of leather or felt, typical of nomads) and colourful carpets.

The author and organiser of the project, journalist and social activist Nazira Begim said the project had received great support at the state level.
