Rahmon calls on low-income families not to make sacrifices

President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon congratulated citizens of the country on the Muslim holiday Idi Kurbon. Almost the entire message focused on the importance of saving money on the festive days and the conditions under which one can and cannot make a sacrifice, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported.

Rahmon emphasised that sacrifice is not something everyone must do. He said the rite of sacrifice in the name of Allah should be performed only by those families who have money for it. He called on poor citizens to refrain from such expenses.

As an alternative, the President suggested that they make people happy on Idi Kurbon with their kind words and deeds, as well as decent behaviour. He said low-income citizens of the Republic can visit orphanages and houses for people of disabilities.

Rahmon called on citizens not to boast and waste money, but rather to spend it on the well-being of the family and education of children. In this regard, he highlighted the importance of timely preparation of food supplies for the autumn and winter.
