Turkmenistan holds conference to mark 30 years of cooperation with OSCE

The conference «Turkmenistan-OSCE: 30 years of beneficial cooperation» was held in the capital of Turkmenistan on July 7. Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov, Secretary-General of the organization Helga Schmid, and Head of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat John MacGregor took part in the event. It was reported by the press office of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

Turkmenistan, according to Meredov, advocates increasing trust between states, expanding the relevant dialogue, and establishing strong relations between peoples within the three dimensions of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid stressed that the conference is a good opportunity to assess the prospects for further cooperation between the organization and Ashgabat. According to her, Turkmenistan has made an important contribution to strengthening security in the region, in particular through building up economic cooperation in the Caspian Sea.

The head of the OSCE office in Ashgabat John MacGregor expressed confidence that the parties have every chance to strengthen the existing level of partnership.
