Tokayev inspects combat readiness of national army

On July 5, President of Kazakhstan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev held a working meeting with Minister of Defence Ruslan Zhaksylykov. The Minister, who has served as head of the defence department for the first six months, reported on the work done by the Ministry for these months, the press office of Akorda reported.

The Minister reported on the implementation of the tasks set by the Commander-in-Chief. These include the improvement of the functionality of special operations forces, the safe storage of weapons and ammunition, the modernisation of the army under modern firearms training programmes and the improvement of military infrastructure.

Ruslan Zhaksylykov emphasised that special attention was paid to providing a safe and healthy service environment for military personnel and eliminating hazing behaviours.

Reporting on combat readiness of the armed forces, the Minister noted that military training activities focus on ensuring that command staffs and armed forces personnel acquire high-quality skills for effective response and emergency action under crisis conditions and be able to quickly build interactions with central and regional authorities.

The Minister said the armed forces of Kazakhstan will take part in the large-scale military training exercises and international army competitions in the second half of the year.
