The World Sambo Championships 2025 are scheduled to be held in the capital of Turkmenistan. The decision was made by the International Sambo Federation and supported by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy, as well as the Turkmenistan National Federation of Martial Arts. It was reported by the state news agency «Turkmenistan today».
On Friday, July 1, at a cabinet meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Sapardurdy Toyliyev reported to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the arrangement of the relevant sports competition.
The official proposed to create an organizing committee for holding the World Sambo Championships. The Turkmen leader approved the proposal and instructed Toyliyev to focus on the formation of the national team. He said that the team must consist of the best athletes in the country, who show great promise.
The head of the state added that the relevant event will contribute to enhancing the sport’s credibility of Turkmenistan in the international arena.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the World Sambo Championships, which were supposed to take place in Ashgabat in 2020, were postponed to 2025.
